The Idiot, The Wise Man And The Jug

The Idiot, The Wise Man And The Jug
An idiot may be the name given to the ordinary man, who consistently misinterprets what happens to him, what he does, or what is brought about by others. He does this so completely plausibly that - for himself and his peers - large areas of life and thought seem logical and true.
An idiot of this kind was sent one day with a pitcher to a wise man, to collect some wine.
On the way the idiot, through his own heedlessness, smashed the jar against a rock.
When he arrived at the house of the wise man, he presented him with the handle of the pitcher, and said:
"So-and-so sent you this pitcher, but a horrid stone stole it from me."
Amused and wishing to test his coherence, the wise man asked:
"Since the pitcher is stolen, why do you offer me the handle?"
"I am not such a fool as people say," the idiot told him, "and therefore I have brought the handle to prove my story."

You Have Guided Me To A Path You Know Not Yourselves

You Have Guided Me To A Path You Know Not Yourselves

The following story is narrated by ‘Abdul-Waaḥid ibn Zaid: "We were on a sea vessel once, when the wind suddenly became stormy, and we were forced to leave the high seas and seek refuge on an island. We were surprised to see that we were not alone on the island; there standing before us was a man who was busy worshipping. We said to him 'What are you worshipping?' And he pointed to an idol,

We said, 'We don't have a person on our ship that does as you are doing'

The man asked, 'Then who is it that you worship?'

We said, 'We worship Allah.'

He asked, 'And who is Allah?'

We said, 'He Whose Throne is in the Heavens and Whose dominion is in the heavens, the earth, and all that exists.'

'And how did you come to know that?' asked the man.

'He sent a messenger to us with clear proofs and miracles, and it was that messenger who informed us about Him.'

'And what has happened to your messenger?'

The story of Mullah Nasruddin and his ring

The story of Mullah Nasruddin and his ring
Mullah Nasruddin had lost his ring, so he set out to search for it under the street light.
Others came to help him search.
Finally when asked if he was certain he had dropped it in this spot, he said,
"No, I lost it there," and pointed to his house.
The others asked incredulously:
"Then why are you looking for it here?"
Mullah Nasruddin said, while trying to look clever:
"Because it is dark where I lost it, and it is light out here!"

One Ayah Changed My Life

One Ayah Changed My Life

Al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyaad was famous for his piety and worship, but he was not always a practising Muslim. In his early years, Al-Fudayl was an infamous highway robber; he would prowl in the night for victims on the road from Abu Ward to Sarakhas. Between these two cities was a small village in which lived a girl that Al-Fudayl was in love with. One night, out of desperation to be with her, Al-Fudayl climbed the wall of her home. As he was climbing over it, he heard a voice recite:"Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah..." Surah Al-Ḥadeed 57, Ayah 16.

The Poor Yemeni And Al-Ḥajjaaj

The Poor Yemeni And Al-Ḥajjaaj

Once Al-Ḥajjaaj ibn Yusuf went to Makkah to perform ‛Umrah. He took along several bodyguards to protect him. After circumambulating the Ka‛bah, he came to the Maqaam Ibraheem (Station of Abraham) to perform two-units of prayer. As he stood to pray, his guards lay their swords, spears, lances and daggers onto the ground.

Ṭaawoos ibn Kaesaan (may Allah have mercy on him), a learned scholar, narrates: "While I was sitting near Maqaam Ibraheem, I heard some noise and clamor. I turned to look in that direction and saw Al-Ḥajjaaj ibn Yusuf and his guards. A poor man from Yemen, while going around the Ka‛bah, had passed by the Maqaam Ibraheem, where Ḥajjaaj, who had finished his prayer, was sitting. The poor Yemeni did not know that Ḥajjaaj was sitting there. As he passed by, a spear had caught his dress and fell on Ḥajjaaj.

Ḥajjaj was terrified and ordered his guards to seize and bring the man to him.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her)

The Mother of the Believers, Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), was endowed with sound opinions and an intelligent mind, which were of great use on the day of Al-Ḥudaibiyah. When the Prophet (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) completed the affair of the agreement at Al-Ḥudaibiyah, he said to his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all), "Stand, slaughter (your sacrifice), and then shave your heads." Not a single person among them stood up, not even after the Prophet (May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) repeated his command three times.

If You Really Want To DisobeyAllah...

If You Really Want To DisobeyAllah...

It is reported that a man once went to Ibraaheem ibn Adham and said,
"O Abu Isḥaaq, I continually wrong my own self, and I turn away from everything that invites me to improve my way of life."

Ibraaheem said, "If you can fulfil five conditions, then sinning will never harm you, and you can fulfil your desires as much as you want."

The man exclaimed, "Tell me those conditions"

Ibraaheem said, "As for the first, if you want to disobey Allah, then do not eat from His sustenance."

The man said, "What then will I eat, for everything on the earth is from His sustenance?"

Ibraaheem said, "Listen! are you being sensible when you eat from His sustenance while you are disobedient to Him?"

The man said, "No. What is the second condition?"

Ibraaheem said, "If you want to disobey Allah, then do not live in any of His lands."

The True Treasure

The True Treasure

A burglar scaled the wall of Maalik ibn Deenaar's house one night and easily managed to get inside. Once inside the house, the thief was disappointed to see that there was nothing inside actually worth stealing. The owner of the home was inside at the time, he was busy performing prayer. Realizing that he was not alone, Maalik quickly ended his prayer and turned around to face the thief. Without showing any sign of being shocked or afraid, Maalik calmly extended greetings of peace and then said, "My brother, may Allah forgive you. You entered my home and found nothing that is worth taking, yet I do not want you to leave my homewithout taking away some benefit."

He stood up, went to another part of the room, and came back with a jug full of water. He looked into the eyes of the burglar and said,
"Make ablution and perform two units of prayer, for if you do so, you will leave my home with a greater treasure than you had initially sought when you entered it."

About Struggling...

About Struggling...
A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a
small opening appeared. He sat and watched the
butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its
body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop
making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten
as far as it could, and it could go no further.
So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took
a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit
of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a
swollen body and small, shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because
he expected that, at any moment, the wings would
enlarge and expand to be able to support the
body, which would contract in time.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the
rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body
and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.
What the man, in his kindness and haste, did not
understand was that the restricting cocoon and
